Filipina superstar on stage at PNE

Princess Jasmine is coming to town.
Lea Salonga, who played the mercurial princess in the Disney movie production, will be playing at the PNE on August 28th as part of the fair’s Summer Night Concerts.
Salonga who is a legend in The Philippines also starred in Broadway musicals Miss Saigon and Les Miserables. She played the roles of Kim and Eponine in each production respectively.
But perhaps her greatest role has been as the singing voice of Princess Jasmine in Disney’s Aladdin.
She performed the song “A Whole New World” at the 65th Annual Academy Awards, where the song won an Oscar. That same year, she released her international debut album; it went platinum in the Philippines and sold three million copies worldwide.
The PNE’s Summer Night Concerts are free with admission to the fair.
Concerts start at 8pm and run for the 17 days of the PNE, August 20th- September 5th.
