Like many other immigrants in this vibrantly diverse country, Mrs. Kuljeet Grewal was sponsored along with her family to Canada 20 years ago. She looks back and feels blessed that she had the support of her family to help her settle into a new country. In terms of work, she settled into a career in beauty and aesthetics - a field she was already working in through her training in India. English being her second language and having little command over it, Kuljeet set about to overcome this obstacle by enrolling in more college classes in BC. After completing a course in Hairdressing she decided to open her business, Touch and Glow Salon. She believes her popularity increased because of her loyal customers who spread the word of her business. Today Kuljeet  enjoys working in her community, has learned basket weaving, and also the art of Heena Mehndi. “I like living in Canada but I also miss India because it will always be home,” she said.
