Coming from an ancestral town close to Khatkar Kalan, the village of revolutionary freedom fighter Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Mrs. Harman Kaur Baidwan, is the proud owner of Indian Cuts which she operates from her home. Mrs. Baidwan moved to Canada in 1995 with her family and continued to practice tailoring in Surrey. She fondly remembers her mother teaching her to stitch and sew. After coming to Canada she experienced a culture shock and found it very difficult to cope. She says she was homesick for the initial years but now Canada is home. Her profession keeps her in touch with the part of India she misses as she meets a lot of people from her area. In her spare time she enjoys Shah Rukh Khan’s movies and old Hindi songs. “I miss the social life of my pind. It is not the same here but my family and friends make it easier,” she said.
