Tragedy struck the Sandhu household when Mr. Rajvinder Singh was five years old and lost both his parents. Learning to survive and depend on himself, Mr. Sandhu, had only one dream in mind, and that was to settle in Canada. He started working as a carpenter at the age of fourteen and got a diploma at the age of eighteen. After saving money for years through a lot of hard work he managed to receive his work visa to Canada. He fondly remembers the day he landed in Canada and says it was the turning point in his life. When he first arrived, he worked for a few building contractors. Eventually he ventured out on his own in 2010. Now he is a private contractor and is working at building a stronger business each day. In his spare time he likes to play with his children and read the newspaper. “I have never missed India. Canada is my home because I know my children have better opportunities here,” said Sandhu.
