Gala raises funds for Children’s Hospital

Over 400 guests attended the fourth annual BC Children’s Hospital Foundation’s A Night of Miracles gala recently on September 13 at the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown.
The event raised more than $350,000 from the South Asian community in support of the construction of a new BC Children’s Hospital.
Over four years, A Night of Miracles, the South Asian community’s only black-tie gala, has raised over $1 million in support of BC Children’s Hospital. Proceeds from this year’s gala have gone toward the South Asian community’s pledge to raise $3 million over five years to support the hospital’s Campaign for BC Children. Specifically the funds will go toward the construction of an interventional radiology room in the new hospital.
Interventional radiology combines the use of different types of imaging equipment and narrow tubes, or catheters, for minimally invasive care.
Children experience less pain, less stress and a faster recovery.
Interventional radiology rooms, where children are diagnosed and treated by specialists using digital images, are a critical part of the new Children’s Hospital.
“With the funds raised through A Night of Miracles and additional support from generous members of our community, we’re confident that we can reach our $3-million goal,” said Robin Dhir, the gala’s founding chair.
“A new BC Children’s Hospital is our number-one priority,” said Teri Nicholas, president and CEO of BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. “It’s clear that members of the South Asian community recognize just how important BC Children’s Hospital is to this province and have made supporting the construction of the hospital their priority as well.”
A number of dignitaries attended the event including Lt. Gov. Steven L. Point, MP Andrew Saxton and BC Health Minister Margaret MacDiarmid.
The gala was emceed by Global TV’s Aaron McArthur. Corporate sponsors included Fasken Martineau and RBC Royal Bank.
