Career Choices: Early Childhood Education

Name: Rachel Song
Sprott Shaw College

When it comes to changing career paths, it isn’t always obvious in which direction to turn.
There are, naturally, many anxieties about the future, especially when you are a mature student with other life responsibilities.
When Rachel Song came to Canada she had a 2-year old son, and a 3-month old daughter.
Although she had five years of work experience as a Microsoft Network administrator, she felt uncertain about a career in IT.
Fast forward a couple of years and today she is the owner of her own child-care business after graduating from Sprott-Shaw College’s Early Childhood Education program.
At Sprott-Shaw Rachel learned about circle time, guiding & caring, safety and how to develop a variety of programs for children, as well as on how to manage finances.
Though Rachel received job offers from four different places where she did practicums, she chose to open her own business, Bethel Christian Child Care.
Bethel Christian Child Care is located at 1692 Dansey Avenue, Coquitlam.
With thirteen campuses across BC and the Lower Mainland, and with numerous career courses, Sprott Shaw offers much flexibility for students, whether just out of high school or mature and with families.
Whether you are looking for Surrey nursing courses or an Abbotsford accounting program, Sprott Shaw has options for you.
