Local group saves Bollywood films

Independent cinema houses, once common across North American cities, are more likely these days to announce their closure than their next film attraction.
In the past year, Vancouver's Ridge Theatre, and Granville 7 Cinema have shut their doors.
Following suit, Raja Cinemas on Kingsway will also stop showing Bollywood movies in the near future.
The Otis Cinema Classics Collection has collected over three hundred Indian cinema films and put into operation an archive plan.
After an exhaustive search, the Collection announced they are working with the University of British Columbia Film Society to preserve these films.
The University of British Columbia is now home to the largest 35mm Bollywood film collection in western Canada. Films such as Dhoom 2, Kaminey, and Apne have been preserved for future generations to be viewed the way they were meant to be seen - on the big screen.
