Vancouver Fashion Week 2013

Designer Profile: Cindy Xin

Cindy Xin was a child when she began sewing buttons on pieces of fabric.
It would prove to be the start of her journey to becoming a fashion designer.
That passion would lead her to design school and eventually across the Pacific Ocean to Vancouver.
As a student at LaSalle – DHU International Design College in Shanghai, Xin was the 2nd place winner for her institution's design competition.
After graduation she worked as a fashion designer in Shanghai, drawing inspiration from the rich world of Japanese manga books and the angular dresses that populate the comic book world.
Shortly after Xin moved to Canada she became a fashion designer for Mantique, working at the boutique for five and a half years.
Currently living in Richmond, Xin has since gone on to launch her own brand Zareen in 2012.
Her collection is targeted toward professional career woman aged 25 to 55 who appreciate sophistication and detail.
With the release of her brand in 2012, Cindy has recently been featured in The Vancouver Sun and has been interviewed on CTV Morning Live.
At the upcoming spring Vancouver Fashion Week, Xin will be presenting as a showcasing designer.
VFW runs from March 19 to 24. For more information on Fashion Week go to  www.vanfashionweek.com.
