Silver Wedding Anniversary – Hotel in the Air

When planning their 25th wedding anniversary Firdosh Bulsara and his wife Chisty could think of no better way of making their trip extra special than by flying Emirates’ A380 Business Class to Africa.

An avid and frequent flyer, being the General Manager of travel operator, MyEscapades, Bulsara knows a couple’s flying experience is just as important as the destination they choose. Having recommended the airline to many clients himself, he knows the value of a great experience when it comes to creating the perfect getaway. And for his anniversary it had to be perfect.
“Top quality service is a constant with Emirates,” Bulsara said. “No matter what airline you choose, people don’t realize that it’s the service from the crew that makes or breaks a trip – whether you’re flying First Class or Economy.”
From the moment he and his wife got to the airport and completed their under two-minute check-in, they knew this flying experience would be special. The couple celebrated their silver wedding anniversary by flying Emirates from Toronto to Nairobi and connecting in Dubai International Airport (DXB).
He remembers the experience vividly, "After our speedy check-in we went straight to the lounge to await our flight; right from the start our journey was great.”
From the upscale amenities in the lounge and engaging conversation with other passengers on land and in the air, to the turndown service onboard, he said it was like being in a ‘hotel in the air’.
Onboard there is a lie-flat bed in Business Class, a personal mini-bar, Bvlgari toiletries and much more. And, you can pass the time with ice, Emirates’ world-renowned in-flight entertainment system offering more than 1,400 channels of film, TV programs, games and music.
However, what really delighted this seasoned traveler was the extra care the onboard cabin crew took getting to know them; they went out of their way to recommend food choices, and even remembered his wife’s cocktail choice from an earlier dinner, recommending a Caesar with her breakfast omelet.
Stopping over in Dubai before heading to Nairobi, Bulsara recalled his experience at the airport:
“You can’t measure time in DXB,” he said. “The moment you walk of the aircraft you have a choice of three lounges. You can do whatever you wish, shop and have a restaurant-quality meal,” he added.
Couples of South Asian heritage living in Vancouver can catch any of Emirates' daily flights from Seattle via convenient connections from Vancouver with its partner, Alaska Airlines. From Seattle, Emirates flies to its hub in Dubai and onto over 130 destinations around the world!
The next stop for the Bulsaras later in the year is Cape Town, South Africa – onboard Emirates of course. “It’s an experience everyone should have. You’ll always come back. You shouldn’t miss it,” he said.
