Richmond hosts Oxfam Walkathon

The 11th annual 1, 3 or 6 kilometer walkathon will be held by the Richmond Oxfam Committee at Garry Point Park, 7th Avenue and Chatham Street on Saturday, August 10th at 2:00PM.
All proceeds will go to support refugees of the Syrian civil war.
1.7 million refugees have now fled violence in Syria; over half of them are children. They are in desperate need of necessities including food, water, and shelter. Oxfam has reached more than 250,000 people with aid but our resources are limited.
Your donation, no matter how small, will help support more families caught up in this crisis.
Orval Chapman, a resident of Richmond since 1947, is the lead organizer of the walkathon. He represents various causes and NGOs and has worked tirelessly to affect social change for many years.
This year the entertainment will be provided by a Guatemalan Mayan band La Marimba Kanjobalita.
Free snacks and drinks will be offered to all participants. This is a family friendly event and there will be activities for children to enjoy as well.
