Sidewalk Runway: Vancouver Fashion Week

Everyone knows Vancouver is a casually dressed city. However I was surprised to learn Vancouver Fashion Week (VFW) has been a fashion mecca for 13 years! Twice a year, VFW is a chance to dress up, mingle with fashionistas and admire creativity as it glides down the runway. I’ve attended five seasons and watched as BC Fashion Week and possibly Eco Fashion Week have closed. This was the first year the event was held under the tents at Queen Elizabeth Theater. It was a bit warm at times and organizers did their best to adjust for a few shows that started late. There were almost 70 local, national, North American and international Designers that presented between Tue 9.16 – Sun 9.21. The Opening Gala (Mon 9.15), Saturday and Sunday appeared to have drawn the best dressed crowds. There were quite a few guests I would love to feature. The same applies to the Designers. I attended 22 shows and I loved Aiaizel, Grandi's Atelier, Lubov Tumanova and Green Embassy. Danny Reinke, Dark Knits Boutique and “Some Product” were pleasant surprises. I hope to have expanded VFW coverage on www.SidewalkRunway.com 1.5 weeks from today.
