'GO FISH' for free for Father’s Day

Want to try fishing – for free?
The 16th Annual B.C. Family Fishing Weekend is part of the Family Fishing Society of BC’s ongoing efforts to celebrate our province’s magnificent outdoors, and – like their slogan – “GO FISH.”
Thanks to the Province of BC and Fisheries and Oceans Canada, you will not need to purchase a licence to fish most of B.C.’s lakes, streams, and tidal waters between June 19th and 21st.
There will also be community events across the province, with fun activities like Learn to Fish, prize draws, trout releases, informative displays, and tours.
On Saturday, June 20th, hatchery staff and volunteers from the Abbotsford Fire Department will host an event from 8AM to 1PM at the Fraser Valley Hatchery in Abbotsford.
Also on Saturday, the BC Association of Drift Fishers will host Coquitlam’s Lafarge Lake event from 9AM to 2PM.
On Father’s Day, June 21st, the Seymour Salmonid Society hosts festivities at North Vancouver’s Rice Lake from 10AM to 3PM.
The Freshwater Fisheries Society’s Rod Loan or Learn to Fish programs offer additional opportunities throughout July and August to try fishing at provincial parks in the Lower Mainland, Southern Interior, and Vancouver Island.
