To celebrate the launch of his bridal collection in China, Mikael Derderian, hosted an exclusive event in Vancouver on October 29 to give “those inspired by elegance” an opportunity to view his private runway show.
The show welcomed Vancouverites to meet the designer and even commission one of his beautiful custom wedding gowns for themselves.
Having dressed celebrities the likes of Halle Berry, Zhang Ziyi and Julia Roberts, Derderian (MIKAEL D) is no stranger to his designs taking the spotlight.
However, when the award winning Canadian couturier was asked to design a set of bridal gowns for Taiwanese model and actress Hannah Quinlivan, he didn’t know how much of a sensation the wedding and his creations would incite.
Quinlivan, also known as Kun Ling, was engaged to one of Asia’s most eligible and beloved bachelors: actor and pop star Jay Chou. The wedding earlier this year was featured across all major fashion and lifestyle publications and on websites and social media platforms.
It was the entertainment headline of the decade, garnering the highest viewership and the largest following of any Chinese celebrity event.
