Immigrant women can connect with others at Canadian Immigrant magazine’s first conference, the Multicultural Women’s Conference & Fair on Mar. 31. This free event takes place at the Croatian Cultural Centre from 10 am to 4 pm.
This event is tailored specifically to women who face everything from career success to community involvement to parenting to health to home buying.
“Immigrant women in particular have extra barriers. Our event aims to provide a space where women can get advice and inspiration to help them achieve their personal and professional goals,” says Margaret Jetelina, editor of Canadian Immigrant magazine.
Keynote speaker Claire Yeung, Vancouver-based author and life coach, will teach women how to balance various aspects of their lives and empower them to create the life they truly want to live.
A panel of distinguished women leaders will field questions. Then emcee Dunia Tozy of Shaw’s TV’s Open Doors will lead women in a little Zumba, yoga and networking fun.
Exhibitors at the fair include the social services, educational and employment sectors. They can get career advice from “Ask the Expert” Clinics, a Resumé Clinic, Small Business Clinic. A special clinic run by the non-profit organization Dress for Success includes interviewing skills and how to dress professionally.
All speaking sessions are on a first-come, first-served basis, but attendees should pre-register for general registration online.
