Pam slams Canada’s ‘inhumane’ seal hunt

British Columbia’s “Baywatch” beauty Pamela Anderson has invited a leading Chinese politician to join her in banning imports of seal meat and seal oil from her native Canada.
Anderson, who is a committed animal rights activist, has been campaigning for years to end the annual seal cull in her native country.
She has already urged leaders in Russia to ban imports of seal goods in a bid to weaken the industry, and now she’s urging officials in China to follow suit and stop their country being used as a “dumping ground” for seal meat.
Anderson has even asked China’s minister of land and resources, Xu Shaoshi, to visit Canada with her to witness the horror of the seal cull.
In a letter released by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Anderson wrote: “Please don’t allow China to become a dumping ground for seal meat and oil products that even Canadians don’t want.”
“If you witnessed this massacre, I’m sure that you’d have a change of heart about importing seal products into China,” she added.
Canada and China reached a deal this year on imports of seal products after a ban by the European Union.
Anderson’s campaign is not a passing fancy - she’s a prominent animal rights activist.
She has also called on India’s top medical institute to retire old monkeys used in scientific research, and has urged Israel’s ultra-orthodox Jews to abandon their traditional fur hats.
There are about 6,000 licensed seal hunters on the East Coast, but only a few hundred took part in the 2009 hunt.
“There is absolutely no reason for this slaughter to continue,” said International Federation for Animal Welfare  UK Director, Robbie Marsland. “There is no money to be made, and one sealer was quoted as saying the hunt is now being conducted simply for ‘sport’. The Government of Canada should admit that the seal hunt is cruel, that it is unnecessary, and they should end it immediately. What we have observed so far this year is simply unacceptable - there is no more room for excuses.”
In addition to the fact that the commercial seal hunt is cruel and inhumane, it is also a waste of Canadian taxpayers’ money. The landed value of the 2010 commercial seal hunt was just over $1 million in 2010, yet the Canadian government spent an estimated $2.3 million to support it.

Animal rights believers aer Idiots.

It really starts with Genesis, every one remembers "be fruitful, and multiply and replenish the earth", but it continues “and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth".

The idea of man having dominion over the animals is not accepted by animal rights believers. According to the animal rights concept, mankind's access to the benefits of nature is restricted to plants and minerals. The animal rights philosophy does not allow for human beings to exploit animals - or to kill them - whatever the purpose might be.

This philosophy is based on the idea that animals have "inherent value as the experiencing subjects of life" and that all who have the inherent value, have it equally - whether they be "human animals" or not. Their equal rights for animals philosophy when it has been thoroughly thought through, far from having mankind multiply, and live in a land of milk and honey, reduces the human population to about 25 million vegetarians trying to fend off other animals from their food stores by none lethal means.

The animal rights philosophy does not encompass humanity to animals as the rest of us know it, no euthanasia for pets who are doomed to a long lingering death, but let nature take its course. But of then you would not have a pet anyway, because that is exploiting animals.

To put this into an easily understood prospective, Dartmoor Ponies are wild animals, every year a hundred or more just weaned fouls are culled, simply because there is not enough feed to keep them from starving in the winter, shooting them is considered more humane than letting them starve to death, that is for most of us. An animal rights solution would be to leave the ponies to die from starvation, a few, the strongest would survive, but the majority would die. In the following years they would multiply, until another mass starvation event occurred. That is natures way and nature is very cruel.

Conservation and animal rights are completely at odds. Whilst supporting animal rights the Green Party cannot be a party for conservation. Conservation is about making use of renewable resources, and animals are a renewable resource. When the European Union produced the book English title “Seal in the Modern Kitchen” Eighty Four Seal Meat recipe's by top chef's, it was following sound ecological principles, promoting the use of Seal Meat a renewable resource. (Seals are culled in the Baltic by EU member states).

IFAW is an animal rights organisation, although it does not bring attention to this. It does not care if seal hunting is conducted humanely, it wants seal hunting stopped period. It raises money, lots of it by producing propaganda that seal hunting is inhumane. Its a nice little earner for the directors, who have fees of over $150,000, the founder Brian Davies received over a million dollars when he retired for the continued use of his name. He still gets a fee for managing IFAW's investments. Living as parasites of the generosity of the animal loving public, provides them with a nice comfortable living. IFAW has very close links with the European Parliament.

The fact that Seal hunting is inhumane is a lie put out by animal rights atavists, killing animals is never pretty, why we are bared from slaughter houses. But humanity in the seal hunt is better than a slaughter house. The initial insult is with a high powered rifle bullet, rather than a captive bolt pistol. Kosher and Halal meat the animal has its throat cut whilst it is concious.

Taken that there are 9 million seals in Eastern Canada increasing at 5% per year, each seal consuming over a tonne of fish each per year (5 kilo's a day) there is an obvious need to regulate the population. Culling would be done in private, it would be expensive and no use would be made of the dead seals, meat and fur.

Ignore the idiots they have not thought their beliefs through, they are illogical. If you wish to donate to an animal charity, please donate to those that find new homes for pets, or pay vets bills for elderly owners who cannot afford them.
